Iniciativa Verde is a member of the Federation of the Green Parties of America

BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA 20-11-07.


This year the XIV Annual Meeting of the Green Parties of America was made in Venezuela, and the representatives of Iniciativa Verde participated in the reunion  next to the green leaders of Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Colombia, Nicaragua, the United States, Chile, Canada, Dominican Republic, Ecuador and the delegates of Europe. The meeting took place from Nov. 5 to Nov. 11. The Federation of the Green Parties of America, that organizes the event, accepted Iniciativa Verde with a full membership.

The delegation of the Party, integrated by Juan Manuel Velasco, Minister of Environment of the City of Buenos Aires, the party leaders Claudia Moy Peña and Marcelo Lopez, and the young delegate Juan Manuel Zorraquín, representative of the Global Young Greens of the  Americas, manifested their satisfaction for this important international triumph of the Party.

Within the framework of this ecological event, two international seminaries took place.
The first,  "Challenges of Latin America to the Climatic Change", it approached subjects like Sustainable Development versus Durable Development, the carbon bonds and the market of emissions, diplomatic, strategies of adaptation to the  climatic change, legal aspects of environmental laws in Latin America and  the Legal International frame, among others.

The second seminary,  "Green Governability in America", presented by  Minister Juan Manuel Velasco, approached points like Municipal Green Governability, Parlamentary and the Green Legislation of the Countries of America, Green Environmental Education and Environmental International Journalism, among others.

The Federation of the Green Parties of America (FPVA) is an international organism that reunites the Green ecologistes political organizations of the American Continent. It was constituted officially in 1997 in Mexico City and was ratified in Bela Island, Brazil, in 1998. The actual members are Argentina,  Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, the United States, Mexico,  Nicaragua, Peru, Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
